Importing and Exporting Favorites/Bookmarks

Opera (Windows)

Internet Explorer 6, 7, and 8

Importing your Favorites

  1. Begin by opening up Internet Explorer and selecting "Import and Export…" from the "File" menu. If you are using Internet Explorer 7 and do not see the "File" menu, click "Tools" and check "Menu Bar" from the "Toolbars" list.
  2. The "Import/Export Wizard" will now appear. Click "Next" to continue.
  3. Select "Import Favorites" and click "Next".
  4. Click on the "Browse…" button and locate the saved favorite file on your computer. Click "Next" to continue.
  5. Select the folder that you would like to import. If you would like to import all folders select the "Favorites" folder then click "Next".
  6. Depending on how many favorites you have, it may take a few minutes to complete the import process. When the import process is complete, click "Finish".


Exporting your Favorites

  1. Begin by opening up Internet Explorer and selecting "Import and Export…" from the "File" menu. If you are using Internet Explorer 7 and do not see the "File" menu, click "Tools" and check "Menu Bar" from the "Toolbars" list.
  2. The "Import/Export Wizard" will now open. Click "Next" to continue.
  3. Select "Export Favorites" and click "Next".
  4. Select the folder that you would like to export. If you would like to export all folders select the "Favorites" folder then click "Next".
  5. Click on the "Browse…" button and choose a location to save your favorites. To simplify the process of importing your "Favorites" at a later time, choose a folder that is easy to access such as the desktop or documents folder. Click "Next" to continue.
  6. Depending on how many favorites you have, it may take a few minutes to complete the export process. When it done importing, click "Finish".

Firefox (Mac)

Importing your Bookmarks

  1. Begin by opening up Firefox and selecting "Show All Bookmarks" from the "Bookmarks" menu.
  2. Select "Import Bookmarks from HTML" from "favorites" drop down menu (the button with a star).
  3. Find your file using the window that pops-up.
  4. Click "Open".


Exporting your Bookmarks

  1. Begin by opening up Firefox and selecting "Show All Bookmarks" from the "Bookmarks" menu.
  2. Select "Export Bookmarks to HTML" from "favorites" drop down menu (the button with a star).
  3. Type a name for your backup file and click save.

Safari (Mac)

Importing your Bookmarks

  1. Begin by opening up Safari and click "Import Bookmarks…" from the "File" menu.
  2. Browse your computer and location of the saved bookmark file, when finished click "Open" to import.


Exporting your Bookmarks

  1. Begin by opening up Safari and click "Export Bookmarks…" from the "File" menu.
  2. The "Save As" window will now open. To simplify the process of importing your "Bookmarks" at a later time, choose a folder that is easy to access such as the desktop or documents folder. Click "Save".
  3. Depending on how many bookmarks you have, it may take a few minutes to complete the import process, when finished the wizard will close.

  2. A tab will open with all of your bookmarks. Click "Organize" and select "Import Bookmarks from HTML File".

  3. Navigate to the backup file and click "Open".

Exporting your Bookmarks

  1. Open Google Chrome and click "Bookmarks" and select "Bookmark Manager" from the menu bar.
  2. A tab will open with all of your bookmarks. Click "Organize" and select "Export Bookmarks to HTML File".
  3. Navigate to where you would like to save the file and click "Save".
