Clearing Browser Cache

These detailed instructions will guide you through the process of removing your web browser cache.

Opera (Mac)

  1. Begin by opening up Opera and select "Preferences" from the "Opera" menu at the top.
  2. The "Preferences" window will now appear, click on the "Privacy & security" link on the left column.
  3. Click on "Clear Browsing Data".
  4. Select "the beginning of time" from the drop down menu and select the "Empy the cache" checkbox.
  5. Click on "Clear Browsing Data".

Google Chrome (Windows)

  1. Begin by opening up Google Chrome and select "Options" from the "Customize and control Google Chrome" button at the top.
  2. Select the "Under the Hood" tab if it is not the current tab and click on the "Clear browsing data" button.
  3. The Clear Browsing Data window will now appear. In the "Clear data from this period" menu, choose "Everything" and then click on the "Clear browsing data" button.

    Note: Depending on the amount of stored files and the speed your computer, this may take several minutes.
  4. Your browser cache has now been cleared, click "Close" to finish.

Opera (Windows)

  1. Begin by opening up Opera. Click on the "Opera" menu, highlight "Settings", and select "Preferences".
  2. The Preferences window will now appear, click on the "Advanced" tab.
  3. Select "History" from the left window pane.
  4. Click the "Empty now" button.

    Note: Depending on the amount of stored files and the speed your computer, this may take several minutes.
  5. Your browser cache has now been cleared, click "OK" to finish.

Internet Explorer 8

  1. Begin by opening up Internet Explorer and pressing Ctrl+Shift+Delete and skip to step 3 or select "Internet Options" from the "Tools" menu at the top.
  2. The "Internet Options" dialogue will now appear, click on "Delete" under "Browsing history".
  3. The "Delete Browsing History" dialogue will now appear, place a check next to "Temporary Internet files" and click "Delete".
  4. The Temporary Internet Files are now being deleted, depending on the speed of your computer this may take a few minutes.
  5. Once finished, you will return to the "Internet Options", click "OK" to finish.

Firefox (Windows)

  1. Begin by opening up Firefox and select "Options" from the "Tools" menu at the top.
  2. The "Options" dialogue will now appear, click on the "Privacy" tab to continue.
  3. Under "Private Data", click on the "Clear Now" button.
  4. The "Clear Private Data" dialogue will now open. By default "Cache" is already selected. If you do not wish to clear "Browsing History" or "Authenticated Sessions", you may uncheck them. Click "Clear Private Data Now" to clear the selected items.

    Note: Depending on the amount of stored files and the speed your computer, this may take several minutes.
  5. Your browser cache has now been cleared, click "OK" to finish.

Firefox (Mac)

  1. Open Firefox, click "History" from the top menu, and select "Clear Recent History".
  2. Click "Last Hour" and select "Everything".
  3. Place a checkmark next to "Cache".
  4. Click "Clear Now".

Internet Explorer 9+

  1. 1. Begin by opening up Internet Explorer 9 and pressing Ctrl+Shift+Delete and skip to step 3 or select "Internet options" from the "Tools" button at the top.
  2. 2. The "Internet Options" dialogue will now appear, click on "Delete" under "Browsing history".
  3. 3. The "Delete Browsing History" dialogue will now appear, place a check next to "Temporary Internet files" and click "Delete".
  4. 4. Once finished you will return to the "Internet Options", click "OK" to finish.

Internet Explorer 7

  1. Begin by opening up Internet Explorer and pressing Ctrl+Shift+Delete and skip to step 3 or select "Internet Options" from the "Tools" menu at the top.
  2. The "Internet Options" dialogue will now appear, click on "Delete" under the "Browsing history".
  3. The "Delete Browsing History" dialogue will now appear, click on "Delete files" to continue.
  4. The "Delete Files" dialogue will now open, click "Yes" to delete the temporary internet files.

    Note: Depending on the amount of stored files and the speed your computer, this may take several minutes.
  5. You will be return to the "Delete Browsing History" dialogue, click "Close".
  6. This will return you to the "Internet Options", click "OK" to finish.

Safari (Mac)

  1. Begin by opening up Safari and select "Reset Safari" from the "Safari" menu at the top.
  2. A dialogue box will now appear. Uncheck everything except "Remove all website data".
  3. Click "Reset".

Google Chrome (Mac)

  1. At the top of the page select "Clear browsing data".

  2. Select how far you would like the clear the cache. i.e. "the beginning of time". Make sure that the "Empty the cache" checkbox is check and select "Clear browsing data".
